Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the FAOS manager, as a member of the treating team the Psychologist I (Psych I) - will carry out advanced professional duties as assigned including clinical assessment, treatment, testing, and counseling of legally mandated adults within the Calgary Zone. The primary client population that this position serves is one with complex Forensic and Mental Health issues inclusive of domestic violence offenses and/or referred for sexual offenses. Primary treatment services are provided within the context of a forensic mental health outpatient clinic setting. The Psych I will provide primary Assessment & Treatment to individuals either convicted of or moving through the justice system for a wide variety of offenses under the criminal code of Canada. The Psych I may also provide input/participate in facilitation of program policy development, staff development training & in-service education, service planning, quality improvement and evaluation and/or research activities as identified. The incumbent will provide therapeutic psychosocial interventions in an individual and group format, and/or to families as appropriate to establish and sustain effective treatment strategies for the offender. The Psych I will be responsible for consultation to the members of the interdisciplinary team and to other internal and external professionals. The incumbent will also establish & maintain liaisons with community partnerships, identify client needs and connection to community resources for the benefit of client discharge/transition and community reintegration. Further this position will foster and maintain liaisons with outside justice agencies and professionals for the benefit of the clients and the program. Work will be performed with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional standards of practice.

Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

**Required Qualifications**:
Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Applications from Provisional Psychologists may be considered.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Master’s Degree in Psychology, or equivalent. Current active registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). If provisional status, preferred to have supervision arranged. 3-5 Years prior experience in an acute mental health setting. 3-5 years prior experience in a Community Mental Health setting. Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions essential (group and individual). Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting required. Must have authorization to perform restricted activities. Solid interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills required. Formal training or practical experience utilizing CBT, DBT, Group Psychotherapy, Family therapy &/or other endorsed forms of therapy is required. In-Depth knowledge of mental health / Mental I
