If you have had some experience with washing and preparing parts for manufacturing and/or powder coating processes we are seeking a **Painter/Washer Helper **for an exciting opportunity to join our team at Emerson/Appleton Group Canada Ltd., based in our Elmira (Ontario) location.
This is a full-time permanent role. The standard hours of operation for this position are Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., working a 40-hour work week. We offer benefits after 3 months of employment and DCPP after 6 months of employment. We have an on-site gym and free coffee. Our rate starts at $17.37, and we offer incremental increases as per our Hourly Wage Structure.
You will be responsible to prepare and complete painting of all parts, castings and finished bodies using powder coat paint as per work orders.

**AS AN PAINTER/WASHER HELPER, YOU WILL**
- Degrease parts in wash tank
- Prepare parts and components for painting by taping and/or masking, plugging and repairing
- Prepare and powder paint a variety of surfaces including, Steel, Aluminum, Iron, and other shop coated metal, uncoated metal, finished hardware, accessories and other surfaces as specified;
- Select appropriate coatings, paints, or sprays, or prepare them by mixing substances according to formulas, using automated paint mixing equipment
- Load/unload of parts in baking ovens; and inspection to ensure quality
- Perform water testing to check products quality
- Operate a sandblaster and grinder
- Cleans and performs preventative maintenance
- Performs pH water test for wash and document results
- Ensures all paint related waste is properly labelled, stored, and disposed properly
- Records material usage, checks inventory and completes paperwork
- Picks parts from inventory ensuring the correct assembly parts are retrieved
- Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools
- Reviews work order to determine the material requirements of the customer's order
- Verifies inventory discrepancies by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies and report errors
- Manually or mechanically transports, loads, and unloads materials from pallets, skids, platforms, carts, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles
- Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination
- Notify Supervisor or Team Lead about equipment failure
- Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment; Maintain an organized and safe work area with daily clean up and housekeeping, following Safety Protocols and 5S + 1
- Perform other tasks as necessary to support the production and warehouse operations
**REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS**
- Ability to understand English oral and written instructions
- Must have the ability to read instructions and perform basic math; understand and follow work order instructions
- Must have the ability to use various hand tools, power tools, packing machine and manual material handling equipment
- Must have basic knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Must be able to review one’s own work and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently and have ability to perform quality control and review one’s own accuracy against established standards and procedures.
- Must be well-organized, complete tasks independently and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Must have good hand and eye co-ordination to grasp, manipulate and assemble objects; accurate dexterity is required to perform manual assembly
- Must have the ability to interact with other employees within the workgroup as well as Supervisors or Team Leads to facilitate completion of the work
- Must be able to wear a respirator while painting
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada - sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
**PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**
- Experience using an Oracle system for product verification is an asset
- Previous painting experience in an industrial environment would be an asset
- A valid forklift, tow motor and electric walkie license would be an asset
- Ability to use computer and RF scanner
