Role Summary

The Packaging Development Specialist is responsible for assisting in the creation of innovative packaging that spans Eminence's diverse portfolio of professional and retail products. As the Packaging Development Specialist, you will collaborate in sourcing new componentry and packaging solutions, develop component technical documentation, partner with a cross-functional team to meet their requirements, and conduct thorough packaging related testing to ensure quality standards are met. You will be supporting packaging-focused projects and providing input into launch and non-launch projects. As the Packaging Development Specialist, you will report to the Senior Packaging Lead.

**Responsibilities**:
Assist the Senior Packaging Lead in the development and sourcing of primary and secondary packaging solutions that elevate the Eminence brand
Create componentry technical specifications for product launches and non-launches initiatives
Create packaging assembly technical specifications and assembly instructions for product launches and non-launches initiatives for both primary and secondary packaging
Lead the communication with vendors to create component standards (aesthetics and dimensional) and quality limits (panoplies)
Coordinate and document the approval process for components pre-production samples with Marketing
Create drafts of packaging project plans and deliverables for launch and non-launch projects
Contribute to ongoing project critical paths and tasks within larger projects for launch and non-launch initiatives
Work with Product Development Coordinators to create SKU lists related to components and collaborate with Supply Chain to issue SKU numbers
Perform and document aesthetical, functional, compatibility and ship testing for various stages during development, and for pre-production and pre-shipment samples to ensure quality assurance
Facilitate fill and machine closing testing to ensure line efficiency and compatibility, and manage packaging-related user testing activities
Create and maintain packaging testing methodologies, including user manuals for testing equipment

**Qualifications**:
2-3 years of experience working in packaging
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Design or a similar discipline
Personal Care, Beauty, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience preferred
Knowledge of packaging systems and processes, material science, and quality testing methodologies preferred
Experience working with external vendors and cross-functional Team-members from Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Sales preferred
Vendor management experience is a plus
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail, time management, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
Ability to exercise diplomacy and discretion and to handle confidential information
Computer skills (especially MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and intermediate Excel)
