**CAD TECHNICIAN**

- **Responsibilities**:_
- _Coordinate work activities with Project Managers / Coordinators, CAD Designers, Structures Designers, survey staff, Project Engineers;_
- _Import AutoCAD, TIF or other file formats and hard copy maps to create electronic base maps for road bases;_
- _Buried utility outside plant drawings in accordance with CSA and ESA;_
- _Aerial utility outside plant drawings in accordance with CSA and ESA (potential future activity);_
- _Aerial utility outside plant design in accordance with CSA and ESA (potential future activity); Wind and ice loading; Separations and clearances; Detailed sag, tension, pole loading calculations;_
- _Prepare plan and profile drawings in CAD which may include but is not limited to duct formation, duct occupancy, duct alignment, manhole and equipment box locations, and pole attachments in accordance with client Standards and Practices;_
- _Prepare detailed drawings of reinforced concrete structures such as utility maintenance chambers, pad mounted interfaces and retaining walls for example (elevations, details and sections);_
- _Prepare detailed drawings of structural steel components such as conduit hanger systems attached to bridge structures for example (elevations, details and sections);_
- _Prepare rebar schedules, Bills of Materials;_
- _Prepare draft manhole Inspection Reports;_
- _Work will be reviewed by a Professional Engineer as necessary;_
- _Participate in ongoing development of design standards and methodologies to further develop design and operational efficiencies;_
- _Interface directly with clients and other third-party resources to discuss, review and provide consultations for project requirements;_
- _Attend site meetings with clients or third parties as required at the direction of the Project Coordinator, including updating the Project Coordinator clearly and in detail on the outcome of the meeting;_
- _Adhere to strict project budgets and client deliverable dates;_
- _Other activities as required._
- **Requirements**_
- _Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills;_
- _Excellent written and oral communication skills;_
- _The ability to deal with multiple projects and conflicting deadlines and get along with people;_
- _Graduate from an accredited post secondary technical educational institution;_
- _Strong knowledge / expertise in structural detailing / drawing of reinforced concrete structures and structural steel elements;_
- _Working knowledge of concrete and steel structural design principles;_
- _Familiar with industry codes, engineering practices, standards and construction methods._
- **Preferred Skills**_
- Experience with utility companies (i.e., electric, gas, telecom, fibre optic);_
- Consulting engineering work experience._
- A minimum of 2 years work experience since graduation and / or in combination with internships is preferred._
- **The Location**_
- Planview USL has 3 offices - Markham, London and Ottawa. Our clients and their projects are based throughout the province. _**The reporting office for this position is in Markham.**_
