Reporting to the Manager of Lighthouse, the Lighthouse Youth Housing Support Worker joins a multi-faceted team working in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Beacon Community Services that make a difference in people’s lives every day. The Beacon Community Services, Lighthouse is staffed 24/7 and supports youth in The Lighthouse supportive transitional housing program to stabilize and continue their growth. Lighthouse Housing Support Workers use their sills to create a safe, welcoming a calm environment for those who access and participate in the Lighthouse program. **PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Support all daily operations of The Lighthouse.
- Create and maintain professional relationships with the youth, community, and all stakeholders.
- Be familiar with, build and maintain positive relationships with appropriate community resources.
- Be a first response to crisis intervention as required
- Collaborate with the management team to develop programming appropriate for the youth development leading self-sufficiency.
- Perform other relevant job duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with homelessness and marginalized groups of individuals in a direct support role.
- Extensive knowledge of local community organizations and resources.
- Understanding of issues related to mental health needs and addictions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- First Aid
- Food Safety
- Naloxone training
- WHMIS (to be maintained annually)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license preferred

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve, work independently as well as part of a team.
- Positive and professional attitude
- Ability to use sound judgement while working in demanding conditions and circumstances
