**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Education Interpreter delivers hands-on environmental, cultural heritage, nature, recreation, and renewable energy programs (dependent on location) to visitors and visitor groups of TRCA/partner sites and facilities, as well potentially at client sites. The Education Interpreter plays an active role in customer experience ensuring all visitors have a positive experience.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Learns program content to be able to effectively deliver interactive programs to various audiences.
- Ensures program equipment/supplies including artifacts are well maintained, clean and stored appropriately.
- Provides support in program development and administrative tasks as required.
**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
**Experience**:
- 2+ years of experience working with children in a group setting.
- Previous experience delivering environmental, nature or historical programs.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Knowledge of 19th century Canadian social history, natural history, or environmentally related discipline (location dependent)
- Ability to deliver programs/information to audiences of various ages, adapting style to ensure audience appropriateness.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy.
- Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise communication in both non-emergency and emergency situations.
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs.
- Must be flexible to work all required shifts, including weekends and holidays.
As this job is partly funded by a Young Canada Works grant, to be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Youth between 15-30.
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or persons who have been granted refugee status in Canada.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
