**Gladue Report Pilot Project Manager**

**BACKGROUND**:
**OVERVIEW**:
Reporting to the Director of Justice Programming, the Gladue Report Pilot Project Manager will oversee the Gladue Report Pilot Project, including project reporting and budget management and the management of four staff: three Gladue Report writers and the Post-Sentence Transition worker. The Manager will also be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and editing Gladue Reports in addition to the continued development and growth of the pilot project through networking and advocacy.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Managing**:
- Support and manage staff in their daily activities writing Gladue reports and providing post-sentence supports including providing training and ensuring deadlines are met
- Conduct performance reviews, prepare or maintain project statistics and reports, oversee project budget and funding
- Assign referrals to report writers and clients to post-sentence support program
**Interviewing, Writing, Researching**:
- Prepare Gladue reports that adhere to Gladue factors and principles that include interviewing, researching, and writing
**Reviewing, Editing**:
- Review and edit staff reports to ensure a high quality of writing standards are met and comply with Gladue report principles
**Networking**
- Meet with the Project Steering Committee on a quarterly basis
- Create, strengthen, and maintain relationships with project partners such as Manitoba Justice, Justice Canada, crown prosecutors, criminal defence lawyers, probation officers, and First Nation community service providers for wrap-around services, programming, and supports
- Meet with Chief and Council to provide info sessions and program updates
**Advocating**
- Advocate for SCO citizens to obtain Gladue reports and promote the importance of Gladue reports within the criminal justice system
**EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary education (degree/diploma) in Indigenous Studies, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Law, or a related field
- 2 - 3 years of experience working in the justice or legal field, such as probation services. Experience writing Gladue Reports and conducting associated research for Indigenous clients would be considered an asset
- Experience interviewing clients using a trauma-informed process that is non-judgmental and empathic
- Experience managing multiple staff including developing skillsets and managing performance
- Experience managing program budgets and completing associated monthly and year-end reporting and stats
- Knowledge of _R v. Gladue_ case and subsequent court decisions related to Indigenous offenders and knowledge of the history of Indigenous peoples and the impacts of colonization, specifically where it relates to overrepresentation within the criminal justice system
- Exceptional written communication skills. Professional or legal writing experience would be an asset
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and facilitate collaboration among project partners such as the Project Steering Committee, Manitoba Justice, and First Nations community service providers
- Ability to manage competing deadlines, work independently, and handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams)
- Speakers of Dakota or Anishinaabe would be considered an asset
**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:
- Current and satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector check and a Child Abuse Registry check
- If the incumbent is a member of a registered profession, they must be a member in good standing with their regulatory body
- Must have a valid class 5 MB driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel will be required
- Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend meetings or events may be required

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
