The Student Life team is seeking a positive, energetic, creative, and team-oriented individual who is passionate about supporting a holistic student experience. Reporting to the Manager, Student Life, the Supervisor, Student Engagement is responsible for supervising a team of staff in leading, planning, and delivering online, hybrid and in-person orientation and first-year student transition programming. The Supervisor, Student Engagement leads certain planning activities while also guiding and supporting the student orientation coordinators, peer mentorship coordinator, and student volunteers, connecting diverse orientation and student engagement projects into a cohesive strategy. The Supervisor, Student Engagement also acts as a liaison to other NAIT staff and program areas and oversees orientation and peer mentorship program assessment and reporting.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement a long-term plan for the delivery of orientation and first-year transition programs for students (i.e. student orientation, peer mentorship).
- Work collaboratively across campus to facilitate the delivery of NAIT Student Orientation (NSO) and Peer Mentorship Programming to support student development and success, using evidence-based theories, research, and best practices.
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate staff and volunteers. Delegate and distribute the work of the unit among team members.
- Lead the development of virtual and in-person resources and events for parents and supporters.
- Manage resources effectively to meet budget requirements and provide insight into budget planning.
- Gather data and generate regular reports for leadership review.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Demonstrated experience in event planning, project coordination, and program development, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience; direct experience leading a team of unionized staff and volunteers (provide ongoing coaching and supervision; supporting employee development) is an asset.
- Ability to develop, evaluable, and report on programs and engagement activities, including learning objectives and outcomes.
- Strength in building cross-campus partnerships and relationship-building with key stakeholders.
- Superior communication skills, including interpersonal, written, presentation, and facilitation.
- Superior organization and time management skills to ensure delivery of services and special projects meet objectives and are on budget.
- Knowledge of/comfortable with technology, including cloud
- and web-based technologies, learning management systems, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Campaigner, and other communications tools and assessment technologies.
- A high level of self-awareness and the capacity to work within complex environments of diverse populations.

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. education, business).
- An advanced degree would be considered an asset.
- 3-5 years of related experience. Experience specific to a post-secondary environment preferred.
- A strong background in student program development and event planning.
- Equivalencies may be considered.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

**Remuneration**: $67,738.32 - $91,093.60 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification -Coordinator II).
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement._
