Industrial Painter Prepper

**POSITION**: Industrial Paint Prepper
**DEPARTMENT**: Assembly
**SHIFT**: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
**REPORTS TO**:Plant Manager
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Prep parts prior to painting, including buffing, deburring, washing and masking.
- Repair paint defects as needed.
- Change out paints, primer and catalyze as needed.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on paint guns.
- Work to acceptable production rates and standards.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management.
- Adhere to Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Assist in painting surfaces, using a spray gun as required.
- Examines the painted surfaces, to check the quality of the work and notes any runs, ripples or unpainted portions.
- Other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**: Grade 12 or equivalent
**Experience**: 1 year experience as a painter is an asset
(preferably in a manufacturing/production environment)
**Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge**:
- Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Capable to operate safely, all painting equipment and paint booth controls.
- Capable of receiving instruction and be trained to achieve full responsibilities of a Painter.
- Hands-on experience working with heavy lift equipment such as Lift trucks and Cranes.
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal.
- Knowledge of correct use of protective clothing, breathing apparatus and ventilation devices.
- Must be able to work on multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Must be able to work well with little supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Physical Demands**:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
