Transportation Manager

We are currently looking for a _**Transportation Manager**_ who will coach, train, and lead employees to ensure we deliver on our commitment to provide a “world class customer service” experience. The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Transportation operations including maintenance, fleet planning, and overall operational excellence of the transportation fleet and teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

- Create a culture that recognizes, rewards, and encourages personal growth. Fostering communication and teamwork to ensure smooth processes and good morale - supporting strong retention of staff.
- Performs all day-to-day management of the Transportation department and personnel. Develops, and maintains an effective department of 20-30 employees, through ongoing recruitment, training, and assignment of personnel schedule (including fleet).
- Manage and oversee transportation operations, including routing, scheduling, and dispatching to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
- Completes ongoing Driver training in accordance with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, ensuring full understanding of legislation and safety practices. Ensures all drivers understand, practice, and meet all legislated rules of the road pertaining to skills, safety licenses.
- Works in conjunction with the Warehouse Manager on improving operations and creating efficient workflows, including evaluating and recommending adjustments to routes, adapting to current market conditions.
- Be knowledgeable of Transportation KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure departmental goals are achieved.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be available for opening shift with a 4:00 am start time.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, (including evenings and weekends, as required) for 40+ hours/week.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

- Min 3 years’ previous leadership experience is required.
- 2 years’ Commercial Driving experience. Class 3 Driver’s license (Minimum). Clean driving record with mínimal infractions.
- Firm understanding of commercial safety standards (NSC) and driving rules and regulations.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, mainly excel.
- Basic proficiency with routing software an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, direct and train 20-30 staff.
- Ability to safely bend, twist and lift to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
- **Note**:_ Food Safe Level 1 and Hepatitis A Vaccination are required (Islands West will provide).
