As our Assembly Team Lead, you will be the expert on all things production. You will work hands-on to build our robots, train and manage the assembly team members and conduct testing and maintenance on the finished models. We’re looking for something with mechanical aptitude and know-how with strong leadership skills. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply
**Responsibilities**:
- Assembling robots using a variety of hand tools and power tools, constructing both the mechanical and electrical subassemblies.
- Training assembly team members on how to safely operate tools, guiding them through the assembly process Leading robot maintenance and repairs.
- Planning and organizing workloads by distributing work assignments to assembly team members to maintain focus on priorities.
- Ensuring safety on the shop floor, enforcing the Occupational Health and Safety Act - ensuring PPE is worn, eliminating hazards, advising of safe work practices, etc.
- Cultivating a mindset of continuous improvement in the shop by identifying inefficiencies and improving manufacturing processes.
- Maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Testing and operating robots ensuring functionality meets customer requirements, troubleshooting when necessary.
- Providing on-site maintenance and remote support for repairs if robots locally or in other cities experience issues.
- Operating robots along sidewalks in different parts of the city, or even different cities, when needed.
**Required Skills/Experience**:
- Mechanical aptitude with an abundance of hands-on experience using tools and operating equipment.
- Experience working in a shop setting or on personal shop projects.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Reading engineering diagrams and wire schematics.
- Electrical assembly including wiring, crimping, soldering connections.
- Independent problem solving.
- Testing and debugging skills.
- Safety-first mindset.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
- Comfortable walking and standing for long periods of time.
**Nice to Haves**:
- Previous robotics, automation or manufacturing experience.
- Previous experience working at a startup or small company.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software.
- Knowledge of assembly of hydraulic systems and testing.
- A G license.
- Experience driving trailers.
