**About the Opportunity**
Reporting to the Eastern Zone Manager of Simulation Learning, the Mobile Unit Driver is the primary driver responsible for the safe operation of the PHMU vehicles (20-22-foot vans; two are wheelchair accessible) and loads. The Mobile Unit Driver also provides a key function for clinic operations in terms of vehicle routine maintenance, cleaning, and daily supply restocking, loading and unloading. The Mobile Unit Driver is part of a diverse Simulation Learning Team
Mobile Unit Driver must independently monitor daily work assignments, sometimes under short notice. Work locations are indoors, outdoors and in transit. Customer service is a large part of the Mobile Driver’s daily duties, they must be able to communicate effectively with the public, their team, and partners. Mobile Unit Driver must constantly monitor their vehicles, passengers, and supplies. Mobile Unit Driver may deal with heavy traffic, congested streets, adverse weather, and long driving distances and may travel to more than one location per shift. Mobile Unit Driver must be alert and manage their personal well-being as they can drive long hours. Mobile Unit Driver may be required to participate in emergency management operations as part of the public health outbreak response.
This position will require frequent driving within the zone, a valid drivers license is required.
**About You**
We would love to hear from your if you have the following
- Completion of Grade 12 required
- Must have a valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license with minimum ten years driving experience with a clean driving abstract with the past five years.
- One year experience in a service occupation dealing directly with customers required
- Driving experience in a transit position is an asset
- Previous experience with the operation and maintenance of Mobile Unit Vehicles, customer service and stock/supply maintenance an asset
- Completion of a defensive driving course is an asset.
- Familiarity with vehicles used and their operation
- Trained in “Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Ground” an asset
- Must be able to work in an environment that is at times, adverse. For example, noise; dust and fumes may be present. May be exposed to prevailing weather conditions and congested traffic.
- While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent must exercise care and judgement, with priorities being safety, courtesy, and common driving sense.
