**Environmental Lead**
**Location: Cardinal, ON.**
**Reports to**:EHS & Sustainability Manager**
**Direct reports: No**
**Workplace type: On Site**
As a **Associate Engineer**, you will ensure that all processes of the plant meet environmental control requirements and specifications of both agencies i.e. National and International. Take part in establishing and implementing the organisation's policies and procedures in order to regard the local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
**As an Environmental Lead your responsibilities will include**:
- Managing, promotion and administration of Safety, Health, Environmental and Employment Standards, complying with corporate standards and regulatory requirements applicable to area of responsibility.
- Lead the WWTP department, including operators; motivating and engaging employees while promoting team building. Administration and adherence of the collective bargaining agreement and responsible for area budget adherence.
- Ensuring compliance with Ingredion policies, applicable permits (ECA’s) and regulatory statutes in accordance with MOECP guidelines for existing operations and new projects.
- Lead, implement and maintain environmental programs, policies, and procedures at the plant to ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial and local regulations and corporate policies and guidelines.
- Attend and coordinate authorities and stakeholders’ audits, inspections or visits related to environmental and sustainability matters.
- Actively supporting the management of the Lean Manufacturing Principles through the Ingredion Performance System, including facilitating Root Cause Analysis and Kaizen events.
- Develop and lead environmental/sustainability strategies to achieve the Cardinal Facility environmental goals..
- Acting as an Environmental Guardian to promote actions and systems that mitigate and prevent incidents and environmental impacts. If accidents happen, provide leadership in environmental incident investigations..

- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or chemical engineering or equivalent in education and experience.
- 3-5 years in an industrial manufacturing environment including leadership and development of others.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial environmental and safety laws and practices
- Demonstrated strong planning, organizing and time management skills; proven ability to coordinate and effectively handle a variety of assignments simultaneously and identify and resolve inner-group and interpersonal conflicts.
- Decision making ability, planning and time-management skills.

- Ability to manage a dynamic manufacturing environment, interacting and communicating across functional lines and levels.
- Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Able to conduct effective meetings and communicate in a clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Ability to use various computer software packages, such as Microsoft Office, SAP, Wiki, and others
