**About Us**:
The Department or Anatomy & Cell Biology at Western has a long and distinguished tradition of teaching, research and service that extends back into the early years of the university. We have fostered generations of researchers and educators, many of whom have made major contributions to the advancement of the anatomical disciplines as well as to the fields of cell biology and neuroscience. A sterling example of this is Professor Murray Barr, former Chair of the Department from 1953 to 1967, who is known for his ground-breaking discoveries in cytogenetics as well as his popular text in neuroscience education. The Department continues to be the training ground for generations of anatomists and scientists who have defined their discipline and serve as its stewards.
**Course Information**:
An introduction to the central nervous system (CNS). Topics include: the basic structures and functional interconnections between subdivisions of the brain, spinal cord and autonomic nervous systems; CNS development; structures that protect and support the brain; and clinical conditions associated with disruption of the CNS. Demonstrations reinforce lecture material.
**Responsibilities**:
You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.
