The Hardware Manager will provide leadership and guidance to a talented and innovative team to deliver products for the next generation of Ross Camera Motion System products,and support the existing products in the market with relevant features, product compliance change and in-house manufacturing support.

**What the job is all about**:

- Responsible for the quality of the products developed by your team.
- Guide the team to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions with a focus on designing for manufacture.
- Advise and make recommendations on matters relating to mechanical and hardware design, in order to provide a basis for decision making and planning, eg, motors, controllers, materials, power requirements, etc.
- Work closely with TPM, Software Manager and other teams as necessary to ensure appropriate HW/SW interfaces and partitioning of the design
- Respond to internal and customer issues regarding mechanical and hardware projects, focus on communications and delivery of resolutions
- Support the production team to enhance the manufacturability of existing products.
- Approve/create mechanical and hardware design specifications in response to Product Design Requirements
- Contribute to the new product introduction processes for our Camera Motion Systems team to deliver products for the broadcast market and other vertical markets.
- Responsible for designing products which can be easily manufactured in-house or at an external contractor.
- Admin/systems work to ensure our designs and modifications/changes are fully handed over to manufacturing and supply chain, focusing on zero excess stoc.
- Encourage documentation of solutions and decisions.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, leadership and support to the mechanical and hardware design teams, including managing schedules, verification of work, and monitoring progress, while working with the TPM and project operations manager (POM) to keep projects on track.
- Oversee HR related activities for the team including training, career development, recruitment and performance management including skills matrix and on-boarding.
- Responsible for the input to the roadmap from a mechanical and hardware viewpoint by contributing to what is possible and providing solutions to customer problems.
- Supporting projects from a design, resource, planning, forecasting viewpoint.
- Work closely with the TPM, POM and other managers to drive projects to completion
- Become an expert in Ross Camera Motion System products
- Perform other related duties as required

**Who you are**:

- Mechatronics experience preferred, mechanical and/or hardware essential.
- Proven design experience - innovation, within budget and timescales of project.
- Expert in managing hardware and mechanical projects including task breakdowns, effort estimates, schedules and tracking
- Knowledge of professional broadcast standards and equipment
- Above average Linux/PC/Windows computer skills
- Degree in relevant Engineering discipline
- Minimum of three years as a technical team lead or in a management role
- 8+ years of mechatronics / mixed discipline development experience
- Strong understanding of design process and requirements, ideally Agile experience
- Experience of NPI / Manufacturing support
- Experience in cost reduction and customer driven products
- Experience in architecture design
- Willingness to travel - Ottawa office based, manufacturing in Iroquois once per month and customer sites as required
