Program Counselor
Reset Canada is a 4-week Digital Detox and Life Skills program for teens. Utilizing a post-secondary campus for our program allows us to host both recreational activities, access public transit and provides space for therapeutic sessions. At Reset, we strive to ensure we are providing an enriching experience to allow participants and staff to engage, learn and grow.
Program Counsellours at Reset are a vital component of our team. They are ultimately responsible for the health and wellbeing of participants, from dawn to dusk and beyond. Program Counsellours will be required to assist with programming and will need to have proficiency in written and oral communications, the ability to adjust and adapt on the go, and have a positive and willing energy. As role models to our participants, it will be expected that our team withholds the mission and values of Reset, by joining in a Digital Detox and engaging in healthy relationships with technology. More specifically, Program Counsellours at Reset Canada will be required to do the following:
- Participate in training workshops held prior to camp sessions
- Work cooperatively with other program counsellours to ensure campers are safe, while maintaining adequate health and hygiene measures.
- Building healthy and appropriate relationships with all participants, led with compassion, empathy and understanding
- Provide feedback to each other, participants, parents, and the camp director, as required.
- Identify teachable moments and capitalize on them
- Facilitate and encourage participation in activities and workshops
- Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
- Plans, leads, and implements activities and workshops for participants.
- Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
- Supervises participants and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
- Maintains a schedule for program participants.
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and other record keeping.
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Mediate, and escalate as required, any participant conflicts or concerns.
- Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
Working at Reset Canada is truly a unique experience that allows you to see the change and self-growth in campers as they are empowered to take risks in new activities and learn the value of their own self-worth.
