**Position Information**:

- Reporting to the Manager, Nuclear Substances Safety and Regional Partner RSO, the Analyst, Radiation Safety supports the implementation of quality testing activities for x-ray and corporate radiation safety programs, providing data optimization and system implementation capacity for projects related to keeping radiation doses to patients, staff, and the public ‘as low as reasonably achievable’; and performing technical tasks to ensure regulatory compliance (quality assurance & control) of related x-ray imaging devices, displays and other radiation detection equipment, including producing and validating compliance & procedural documentation for the performance of these tasks.The Analyst, Radiation Safety will also support broader compliance activities including records management, documentation review, and internal inspections, for multiple modalities/technologies overseen within the Radiation & Laser Safety Department (R&LS), and will be expected to develop intermediate knowledge of all R&LS functions to be able to resourcefully solve various problems, provide backup support within the team, and/or independently provide answers to stakeholders (or accurately refer to correct resource).**Rotation/Shifts**:

**Basic Requirements**:
- Undergraduate Degree in Physics, chemistry, engineering, medical radiation sciences, or health physics;
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an applicable field (radiation safety, health physics, medical radiation technologist, quality control, medical physics or radiation physics or engineering);
- Experience in data analysis or data management experience; preferably related to quality improvement and/or demonstrating compliance with regulatory expectation in a regulated workplace setting;
- Experience using information systems to produce and analyze data and/or reports using operational data; preferably including experience responsibly handing personal health information.

**What you will bring**:

- Understanding of the medical uses of radiation, the function of radiation emitting devices, and intermediate radiation protection principles including performing shielding and decay calculations;
- Ability to quickly become familiar with a variety of specialized and delicate instruments and associated software interfaces, including understanding their operation, safe handling, and ability to independently troubleshoot;
- Strong organizational skills, particularly related to using data systems to assess system performance and demonstrate compliance with applicable standards and regulations;
- Ability to understand and navigate complex IT systems, including effective communication and collaboration with IT professionals to support troubleshooting and implementation of new tools.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Previous experience having previously been designated as an X-Ray Worker and/or Nuclear Energy Worker.
