**General Description**:
Under the direction of the LSK Principal, this position is responsible for the day-to day operations of the school cafeteria with general duties. The cook oversees all kitchen operations, maintains safe, clean and sanitary facilities, and endures safe food preparation, storage and disposal in accordance with accepted food handling practices, food safety regulation and childcare food guidelines.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and serve meals to students
- Plan and provide nutritional meals and snacks that promote healthy eating
- Accommodate for allergies, special dietary and nutritional requirements
- Protect children from physical and emotional harm
- Assist with menu planning. food ordering and stock control
- Follow the cleaning and sanitization schedule
- Prepare food orders as requested by Supervisor(s)
- Maintain accurate and complete records of menus and child allergies
- Maintain purchasing and inventory records
- Follow policies, procedures and code of ethics
- Promote a caring environment and good inter-departmental relations
- Receptive to the needs of the students and staff
- Advise supervisor of all equipment and appliances that require repairs or replacement
- Maintain student confidentiality and not divulge student or school community information unless specifically authorized by the Principal, Vice principal, Director of Operations or Director of Education
- Complete ongoing training and Professional Development courses as required
- Other related duties as determined by the supervisor.

**Qualifications and Experience/Skills**:

- Must possess current Food Handler’s Course Certificate
- Experience preparing and serving food in a service orientated environment
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team and to take direction
- Demonstrated ability to work around children with various needs
- A Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry are required.
