As an Aquatics Advisor with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of experts in the Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) department. This position is based in our Calgary Head Office.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Resources, and Compliance, the Aquatics Advisor will coordinate the aquatics field programs for Operations including Post Construction Environmental Monitoring. The Aquatics Advisor will be responsible for providing input into Trans Mountain’s environmental requirements, including Environmental Protection Plans and Procedures, relevant Environmental Management Plans, and federal, provincial, and municipal approvals, permits, and authorizations.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Ensure Trans Mountain meets all relevant environmental commitments and requirements, plan and coordinate environmental deliverables such as:

- Verify compliance with environmental requirements related to fish and fish habitat.
- Monitor program effectiveness to ensure applicability to Trans Mountain business practices.
- Provide and/or facilitate technical assistance to all levels of staff within the company as required.
- Coordinate technical program development including drafting of standards, procedures, and required guidance documentation.
- Review mitigation and reclamation implemented in the field to verify it is timely, effective, appropriate, and in line with environmental requirements.
- Provide advice on decisions or courses of action to deal with unexpected environmental matters at watercourse crossings and associated riparian areas.
- Support public, regulatory, and Indigenous meetings, as required.
- Review and report on compliance with the environmental requirements in support of Trans Mountain’s Post Construction Environmental Monitoring (PCEM) program.
- Prepare and track required notifications and permitting approvals for ongoing operations work.
- Support internal and external reporting as required (e.g. regulatory inspection reports, monthly progress reports).
- Collaborate with consultants executing the aquatics field program for operations and TMEP post-construction activities.
- Ensure fiscal management of the Environment Department budget: track expenditures, develop forecasts.
- Promote environmental stewardship and increase environmental awareness across all levels of the organization.

**Qualifications and Professional Experience**
- B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aquatics field programs preferably in Oil & Gas.
- Project Management Professional or Environmental Professional credentials considered an asset.
- Experience successfully planning and executing pipeline installations of watercourse crossings, including site-specific reclamation.
- Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of project professionals, both internally and externally.
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial regulation, industry best practices, risk management, and monitoring.
- Familiarity and understanding of pipeline company operations work activities, practices, issues and geographic constraints related to the position's technical areas of responsibility.
- Successful track record in project related tasks including oversight of contractors, productive interaction with project team members including various internal and external stakeholders, interaction with legal representation, and communication of progress, strategy, goals, and fiscal project management.
- Competency in report preparation to regulatory agencies describing work performed and results.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for various office duties.
- Possess excellent communication skills.

**Additional Information**
- Overtime may be required for certain project work.
- Travel: up to 25%.
- Driver’s License required.
