Certified in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and First Aid. 7. Good communication and leadership skills. 8. Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures as required by the College of Nurses. 9. Supervising unionized employees and asset 10. EMar and YARDI software training an asset. - **Physical Demands**:_ - Sitting for long periods at a desk for computer/typing work. - Standing for long periods of time. - Walking short distances and up/down staircases. - Typing and/or use of a computer keyboard proficiently. - Pulling/pushing/lifting to open and/or relocate binders, carts, etc. up to 10lbs. - Reading/seeing documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen for long periods of time. - Hearing differences in phone ring tones and/or in fire system horns or alerts for emergency response purposes. - Speaking/communicating in front of audiences and with individuals who may have impairments and disabilities. - Bending, kneeling, providing walking support for residents in the provision of resident care where required. - Dexterity required to open pouches/blister packs, insert test strips into glucometers, etc. - On-call - Capable of working all shifts including over night shifts. - **Responsibilities**:_ - Provide professional nursing care to all residents and supervise care given in the nursing unit. - Assess all resident needs and planning, implementing and evaluating the care program. - Work closely with DOC, General Manager, Attending Physicians, Food Services and Activity/Recreation Managers and teams. - Supervise all staff in nursing unit, providing leadership, guidance and direction to PSW, RPN's & UCP's. - Supervising Unionized employees - Part of the management team - Able to work weekends - Wed-sun evening shifts - 2:30 10:30 p.m. (a flexible work week schedule) - _ 1. Provide directions and supervision of all Care staff within the union guidelines 2. Assess residents' conditions by recognizing signs and symptoms and where necessary initiates remedial health measures. 3. Contacting resident's attending physician when there is a change in resident's physical or mental condition. 4. Responsible to ensure safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys. 5. Responsible for administration of medications and treatments as ordered by resident's physician within his/her limitations. 6. Monitors staff performance and completes performance appraisals during probation period and annually thereafter. 7. Teaches good health habits. 8. Deals courteously with staff, residents, residents' families and visitors. 9. Responsible for admission and discharge of residents. 10. Maintain liaison with families of residents. 11. Takes prospective residents and other interested persons on tours of the retirement residence. 12. Ensures medical records are maintained. 13. Ensures daily/weekly and monthly duties are completed and rosters are maintained. 14. Organizing and ensuring medications are reviewed every three months where medications are provided. 15. Completes quarterly weights and blood pressures on all residents. 16. Coordinates and/or participates in the staff development, quality assurance, safety, environment and infection control programs. 17. Ensures staff involvement in fire and safety procedures and communication to all staff of inspection reports and follow up actions. 18. Ensures Care Home Information Package is distributed to all new admissions. 19. Knowledgeable of the Residential Tenancies Act, RHRA and ORCA. 20. Ensures policies and procedures are reviewed every three years. 21. Ensures nursing documentation is complete as per College of Nurses' Nursing Documentation guidelines. 22. Assists with arranging transportation for residents. 23. Assist where necessary. 24. Orders medications from Pharmacy as per Doctor's orders. 25. Receives medications and storing medications safely. 26. Assist with resident satisfaction. 27. Adhere to all established policies and procedures of the company 28. Responsible for making the appropriate plans for discharge as necessary. 29. Complete incident reports where necessary. 30. Supervising resident's personal hygiene and bathing as per schedule, or assisting when necessary. 31. Assist residents with ambulation when necessary. 32. Emergency medical care. 33. Responsible for maintaining an accurate waiting list. 34. Responsible for maintaining accurate records for "extra charges" if applicable. 35.
