Quality Technician

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the main function of the Quality Technician is to ensure high quality of customer deliverables by supporting production as a first contact for line side quality concerns and through ongoing monitoring of the product and processes. This will include reviewing inspection reports and reacting appropriately to their outputs, performing destructive and non-destructive testing of parts to confirm product conformance, performing layered audits to ensure production is performed per control plan requirements, and inspecting parts, both visually and dimensionally, on a sample basis.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Ensure production parts are being inspected in accordance with control plan requirements using the correct equipment at the correct frequency through layered audits and scheduled GEMBA walks.
- Respond to production questions and request as they relate to the quality of product.
- Actively seek to lower risks as they relate to safety and the product in all areas of responsibility.
- Review part reports from various sources including CMM, X-ray, spectrometer, and visual observations to determine conformity status of product.
- Report product conformity status to production in a concise, efficient and direct manner.
- Take appropriate action per control plan reaction plan in cases where non-conforming material is identified.
- Coordinate and assist with containment activities in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Assist with data collection and RCCA activities as required.
- Contribute to a culture of quality through continuous improvement, suggesting improvement opportunities when possible.
- Provide backup operation support for co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM’s), Laser measurement devices, industrial x-ray equipment, spectrometers, and manual gauges in a safe and efficient manner.
- Provide assistance in decision making with respect to product quality.
- Training new employees and retraining of existing employees on quality standards and procedures.
- PPAP documentation support including generating / compiling data and reports.
- Other duties as required.

**SKILLS**
- General to advanced understanding of gauging principles and manual measurement techniques required.
- General to advanced understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing interpretation required.
- Strong data focused root cause corrective action skills. (8D, 5why analysis)
- Demonstrated organizational skills, time management skills, and troubleshooting skills required.
- General to advanced understanding of GD&T principles and controls required.
- Understanding of Microsoft office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) required.
- Ability to navigate and interpret dimensional DWG’s.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable with providing quality training to production. (Potential for medium to large groups)
- Understanding of TS16949 standard considered an asset.
- Ability to perform physical work including lifting and manipulation of parts both with and without lift assist devices.

**EXPERIENCES**
- Successful completion of GED or equivalent (High School Diploma) required.
- Training in GD&T, Degree / Diploma in quality, manufacturing or another related field considered an asset.
- Automotive, Aerospace or other high precision / high volume production experience preferred.
- Experience with RCCA activities considered an asset.
- ASQ CQT designation considered an asset.

Pay: $23.00-$23.50 per hour
