**Role and Responsibilities**:

- The Environmental Student is responsible for assisting with the following tasks:

- Support Huron County environmental staff in implementing department programs, activities and policy projects.
- Maintenance, management, and programs related to the protection and enhancement of 14 County forests.
- Species identification and species at risk protection through habitat enhancement.
- Writing and implementing climate change initiatives including public engagement.
- Research and report writing related to natural resource management activities.

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**:

- Enrolled in a post-secondary environment science, Forestry, climate change, environmental management, or a related program;
- Strong skills in communication, time management, organization, computer literacy, and problem-solving.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a vehicle
- Research, Problem-Solving, communication, customer service, teamwork, Policy development, Report writing, Microsoft Office;
- Species identification experience considered an asset;
- Experience operating a variety of equipment, light duty vehicles, power and hand tools (i.e., chainsaws, weed/brush trimmers, pruning equipment) considered an asset;
**Additional Notes**:
**Wage**:

- College/University level - $17.72/per hour as per 2024 Non-Union Student Wage Grid
- Masters level - $21.92/per hour as per 2024 Non-Union Student Wage Grid
- $2 Environment Factor/per hour
