This role will be responsible for planning and overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, software systems and helpdesk services, while also helping influence how we communicate and collaborate. This includes taking ownership of how technology supports project delivery, introducing better software solutions, streamlining data flow, and driving user adoption and training.

As the Manager, Information Technology, you will bring a balance of strategic vision and practical execution - supporting day-to-day operations while guiding long-term technology initiatives that improve productivity, collaboration, and client service.

**Strategy and Leadership**
- Develop and execute the IT roadmap aligned with operational and growth objectives.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the AEC industry
- Collaborate with leadership and project managers to ensure IT capabilities support design innovation, client collaboration, and project delivery excellence.
- Lead IT improvements to work flows across multiple teams and functions
- Develop and implement Omicron-wide training programs and continuing education relating to technology, to ensure consistency of delivery and execution.

**Infrastructure and Network**
- Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of the Company’s on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, including file servers, domain controllers, storage systems, and VPN access.
- Manage network architecture across offices and job sites, ensuring high-speed, secure connectivity for field and remote workers.
- maintain and optimize cloud environments to support seamless access to CAD/BIM models and project data.

**Systems and Application Management**
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and integration of AEC-specific and enterprise software.
- Manage licensing compliance, software version control, and compatibility across design and engineering platforms.
- Support the implementation and upkeep of project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Autodesk Build, Microsoft Teams).

**Cybersecurity**
- Oversee and enforce cybersecurity policies.
- Maintain disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans; ensure offsite and cloud-based backups are tested and verifiable.

**IT Service Management & Process Improvement**
- Manage Helpdesk and IT support processes to ensure efficient response times and high-quality end-user support.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot recurring issues, and implement long-term solutions.
- Support project teams with solutions for document control, remote collaboration, and digital field tools (e.g., tablets, drones, reality capture).

**Team and Vendor Management**
- Lead and mentor a small internal IT team
- Manage relationships with key technology vendors, negotiating contracts for hardware, software, and services.

**Artificial Intelligence**
- Monitor the evolving AI landscape in AEC and advise leadership on innovation opportunities and operational implications.
- Develop and enforce policies for the ethical, secure, and responsible use of AI tools within the company.

**Other**
- Perform other duties as required.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems administration and cybersecurity
- Experience supporting technology in the AEC industry or similar project-based environments would be an asset
- Project management skills to effectively plan, execute, and monitor IT projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of autonomy and initiative, with problem solving and service-oriented mindset.
- Capable of aligning IT strategy with business priorities in a fast-paced project-driven environment.
- Comfortable managing IT budgets, cost/benefit analysis, and capital planning.
- Responsive and empathetic approach to supporting technical issues at all levels of the company.

**A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US**

Omicron is one of the largest integrated development, design and construction firms in Western Canada, providing solutions to clients in the Industrial, Institutional, Building Renewal, Commercial, Retail and Residential sectors.

Omicron was established in 1998 by people who believed real estate strategists, architects, interior designers, engineers and builders could work as one unified team to deliver a better experience throughout each step of a building project. In an industry driven by antiquated practices and procedures, we continuously search for **a better way** of delivering projects by questioning convention and actively supporting our team through the systemic challenges of the building industry.
