**Night Attendant**

The primary responsibilities of the Night Attendant include greeting families, clients, guests, and members of the public who arrive at Saskatoon Funeral Home after hours; answering phone calls; taking messages; and managing first-call notifications for all Edwards Funeral Services Ltd. locations. The role also includes performing a variety of cleaning tasks throughout the funeral home, chapel, and office areas.

**1. Responsibilities/Job Duties**
- Welcome and assist families, clients, guests, and the public
- Act as the first point of contact for incoming calls by providing general information, taking messages, and directing inquiries appropriately
- Answer and manage first-call notifications for all Edwards Funeral Services Ltd. locations
- Assist with evening visitations and services, ensuring the space is prepared beforehand, welcoming guests as they arrive, maintaining a quiet and respectful atmosphere, and offering support to families or staff as needs
- Perform regular walkthroughs of the entire facility, ensuring doors are locked, lights are adjusted, and all areas are secure
- Monitor and respond to alarms or emergencies for Edwards Funeral Services Ltd. locations and follow protocols for incident reporting or escalation
- Receive after-hour deliveries and ensure they are stored or directed to the appropriate location
- Support transfer staff during arrivals by unlocking doors, assisting with vehicle preparation, or coordinating available space
- Complete general cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, washrooms, and restocking supplies
- Ensure the funeral home, chapel, selection room and public areas are presentation-ready at all times
- Conduct light groundskeeping duties near entrances — such as sweeping snow, picking up litter, or salting entrance
- Restock hospitality areas ensuring guest amenities are clean, organized, and replenished
- Assist with administrative or services tasks assigned by day staff or the General Manage; this may include filing, updating logs, preparing or organizing materials for upcoming services
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies or paper products and note when restocking is needed
- Log maintenance issues (e.g., burned-out lights, plumbing problems) to alert day staff or building maintenance
- Log all messages, activities, incidents, and events that occur during the shift for review with the day staff

**2. Job Requirements**
- Ability to communicate with sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism at all times
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in the absence of supervision
- Respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
- Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure or emotionally sensitive situations
- Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills
- Reliability and punctuality are essential
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record

**3. Work Conditions and Physical Requirements**
- Frequent walking and stair climbing throughout the building during shift
- Ability to maintain alertness and attention throughout the entire shift, including late-night hours and working alone
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Regular lifting or moving of objects up to 10 lbs frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Reaching, bending, and manual cleaning of various surfaces
- Ability to (reach) extend out and retrieve objects outside immediate range
- Clear verbal communication required both in person and on the phone
- Operation of desktop computer and peripherals
- Visual acuity and depth perception necessary for safety and detail work

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $16.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 32 per week

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
