The Kennel Attendant provides care and the basic needs of animals that are being hospitalized or boarded at Eagleson Veterinary Clinic including cleaning of cages, runs and ward areas, laundry, walking, and proper feeding. The kennel assistant operates under the supervision of the Registered Veterinary Technician and Doctor in Veterinary Medicine working on the floor.

Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discomfort.
- Handle animals as required and restrain animals.
- Walk hospitalized and boarded dogs several times a day (depending on their condition) to provide proper TLC and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
- Groom and provide Tender Loving Care to patients in hospital as needed.
- Provide care for animals housed at the Hospital. Report signs of illness, disease, injury or anything unusual or abnormal to technicians or veterinarians.
- Prepare animals for their discharge, wipe off anything from face or body. Clean up back end area. Make sure animal looks presentable to go home. Ensure that animals are clean and fresh smelling prior to discharge. Once patient is prepared and veterinary technician has gone over medication and medication schedule with owner, assist in handing over patient.
- Pick up stool outside on walks, clean up feline litter boxes.
- Obtain stool and urine samples as assigned.
- Ensure that cages and animals are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper boxes with proper labelling.
- Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Perform general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease. Wash and sterilize water and food bowls.
- Launder and dry towels and blankets.
- Patrol hospital grounds, picking up any trash and stool material. Empty trash.
- Record information such as feeding schedules, appearance, behavior of animals that are hospitalized.
- Maintain boarding areas with proper stocking and cleaning.
- Responsible for maintaining boarding inventory. Including but not limited to kennel food, bowls, bedding, leashes, grooming supplies, and cleaning supplies.
- Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors and the practice philosophy.
- Perform other duties as assigned/needed to meet clinic needs

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: $17.50-$21.50 per hour
