Position Summary:
As the Gordon Food Service supplier of smallwares, United is innovating in this space and looking for a driven, entrepreneurial and analytical Warehouse Supervisor (Afternoon Shift). This role will require the ability to lead a team, assign staff and monitor the flow of products through the distribution center. Make recommendations for process improvement. Reporting to the Operations Manager, we expect this individual to build a growth strategy from the ground up and successfully execute upon our ambitious goals. Critical success factors include creating and maintaining an exceptional relationship with customers and staff, determining and implementing best practices that translate into flawless customer service. This role will include the direct supervision of day shift employees.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource for them
- Ensures operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming receipts and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of products, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
- Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment. Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
- Participates in employee safety and plant protection activities.
- Provides leadership, ensures adherence to company practices and procedures, applies corrective action when needed.
- Monitor staff KPIs throughout the shift to ensure efficiencies are in place
- Complete all related administrative tasks such as sorting pick tickets by route, end of the day reports & summary, invoicing, etc.
- Manage the employees to ensure their tasks are completed in a timely manner and with accuracy
- Provide ongoing performance management to all day shift employees including performance reviews and progressive discipline.
- Completes weekly scheduling of direct reports including vacation planning.
- Accountability to daily productivity and overtime in the facility
- Develops individuals and serves as a role model and resource to them.
- Supports Process Safety Management (PSM) Standards.
- Sets individual and team goals. Motivates individuals to achieve High Performance Distribution metrics.
- Monitor the time and attendance system and make necessary adjustments as appropriate..
- Conducts departmental and pre-shift meetings to communicate information.
- Maintain a safety culture; ensure staff are properly trained and adhere to the policies outlined in the Operations Safety handbook, and monitor warehouse safety according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of previous Warehouse Supervisor experience preferably in a Distribution setting is required
