**About the Role**:
The Landlord Tenant Worker Summer Student will work with service users staying in the family shelter. The Summer Student will work alongside our Landlord Tenant Worker to assist families to develop housing plans that are person directed and include concrete goals and the steps required to achieve them.

Work takes place in the community and in the office. The Landlord Tenant Worker Summer Student will visit apartment buildings, meet with landlords in their offices, and accompany service users to lease signings, apartment viewings, and community appointments. Must be willing and able to assist in a hands-on capacity with a client's housing plan. Time management skills are necessary in a high energy, changing environment. Ability to work independently. Must be comfortable with advocacy and building partnerships with community landlords.

**What We Look For**
- Post-secondary education or interest in social services or a related field is required
- Have an understanding the housing process and have working familiarity with housing related legislation such as the Residential Tenancies Act, Landlord and Tenant Board, and the Ontario Human Rights Code
- Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset
- CPR certification is an asset
- Driver's license is an asset
- Meet all of the guidelines set out by the Government for the Canadian Summer Jobs Program

**Hours of Work**:
Shifts are Day shifts (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and one evening shift (11 a.m. - 7 p.m.) per week. Availability to work one Saturday a month. Some flexibility in work hours may be required.
