L’Arche Canada is seeking an, energetic, passionate and detailed individual who is eager to join the Philanthropy team. The Ontario Director of Philanthropy is responsible for the philanthropic development of a diverse Ontario-based donor portfolio. This role focuses on cultivating meaningful relationships with major and planned giving donors and prospects across the region to secure support for the mission of L’Arche Canada. The Regional Director also contributes to national fundraising strategy through managing and delivering a portion of the national strategic plan (Direct Marketing), piloting new engagement initiatives, supporting cross-organizational collaboration and coaching community fundraisers.
**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:**The Director will focus on philanthropic development, including donor identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and stewardship.
- Manage and develop relationships of trust with a diverse portfolio of Ontario-based major, corporate, family foundation and planned donors and prospects.
- Prioritize time on direct engagement with donors and prospects through regular phone calls, one-on-one meetings, and attending strategic networking opportunities and events.
- Ensure strategic and effective management of all current and potential donors, with tailored strategies to maximize donor commitment and upgrade giving levels.
- Lead efforts in securing major gifts, working closely with high-net-worth individuals and influential stakeholders who share alignment with L ’Arche’s mission and values.
- In conjunction with the National Director of Philanthropy, develop and track annual goals that focus on key metrics such as amount raised, number of donors engaged and upgraded, retention rates, donor actions, and return on investment.
- Represent L’Arche Canada at relevant conferences, events, and networking opportunities to enhance the organization’s visibility and donor engagement.
- Develop and pilot an Ambassadors Council to engage key champions, donors, and influencers in philanthropic outreach.
- Collaborate with the national philanthropy team to ensure alignment with L’Arche Canada's broader fundraising strategies and contribute to the sharing of best practices.
- Dedicate approximately 5% of the time to walking with L’Arche communities in Ontario in implementing the annual national fundraising support offering and providing coaching that builds local fundraising capacity.
- Consistently track donor activity and maintain accurate records in the CRM database.
- Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to ethical standards, legal requirements, and organizational policies.
**Direct Marketing**:
- With the National Director of Philanthropy, develop an annual plan for marketing. Plan and coordinate direct mail and digital marketing campaigns including timeline management, content development, and coordination with external vendors.
- In collaboration with the Data Base Manager, ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of data entry and mailing lists, segmenting them as necessary to optimize engagement and response rates.
- Monitor mailings to ensure timely delivery and troubleshoot any issues.
- Conduct A/B testing to optimize mailing results.
- Research and identify potential acquisition and retention strategies to maintain and expand the Foundation's supporter base.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven ability to be detail oriented with excellent analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
- A deep understanding and appreciation of the needs, aspirations, and barriers experienced by people with intellectual disabilities in living rich and meaningful lives.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in fundraising, communications, marketing, business, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in fundraising and managing donor relationships, including successfully closing gifts over $25,000.
