**Family Group Facilitator in Oakville**

**Description of Position**

The Oak Park Family Group is looking to hire a junior Facilitator experienced in supporting adults with an intellectual disability and their families. As part of our facilitation team, the new Facilitator will have the opportunity to collaborate and learn with committed and compassionate colleagues as we work together to support people to strengthen their autonomy and live meaningful lives in their community. The Facilitator will compassionately work with diverse perspectives to recognize and respond appropriately to the needs of the person and their family.

Some of the tasks that this role will involve are:

- to engage and build consensus between individuals and their families, who may come with varying perspectives and diversity of learning styles
- support people to explore their interests in the community and build connections with others
- establish and build rapport with the family
- work collaboratively with an established team of facilitators with exceptional ability to give, receive and incorporate feedback
- raise suggestions and/or concerns in a way that enables positive outcomes
- attend meetings, keep notes and track outcomes and learning

**Skills and Qualifications**

Other Requirements:

- Experience or knowledge in facilitation
- A background in mental health and experience working with families in crisis or challenging situations
- Strong knowledge, understanding and practice of trauma informed approaches to mental health related issues
- Knowledge of systemic issues that a person with a disability may face such as unemployment, stigma, and isolation
- The ability to be flexible, self-directed, self-reflective, and supportive
- Ability to work effectively with a co-facilitator
- Demonstrate self-awareness and purposeful self-disclosure
- A current and approved Vulnerable Sector Check

**Compensation and Hours**

Minimum of 10 hours/week up to 20 (TBD)

Hourly Rate: $35 - $40/hour

Location: Oakville (combination of remote and in person, both in home and community)

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week

Licence/Certification:

- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)

Work Location: In person
