**Position Summary**
The Social Worker will coordinate the design, development and implementation of the Skills Trade Development Program. The Social Worker will also work with community agencies, community members and the private sector to form collaborative responses to the needs and issues of the youth population served within this program and the community.
**Accountability**:
The staff members of The Oaks Revitalization Association are expected to be willing, when requested, to explain the reasons for a decision or action to other staff or community members, particularly when others are affected by the decision or action. When affected by programming, policies and procedures, staff is expected to offer information and opinions when relevant for the development of new or changing services, policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities**:
**1) Program Implementation**
- Interview clients to assess their situation and determine the types of services required and eligibility.
- Provide counsel and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems.
- Plan programs of assistance for clients.
- Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services.
- Report cases of any level of abuse or neglect and take authorized protective action when necessary.
- Provide public education and consultation regarding counselling services, issues and methods.
- Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team working with a client group.
- Act as an advocate for client groups in the community.
- Advocate for solutions to problems affecting client groups.
- Conduct social research.
- Write research papers, educational texts and articles.
- Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposiums.
- Provide consultation services to government and other organizations.
- Provide mediation services and psychosocial assessments.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and social programs.
- Develop prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
**2) Program Management**
- Lead in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs and activities.
- Ensure that all ORA policies, procedures and best practices are implemented in all programs and activities.
- Identify, develop and implement quality assurance measures to maintain standards of practice.
- Ensure service, program and activity evaluations are carried out based upon the outcome evaluation systems.
- Provide a safe, trusting and healthy environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
**3) Staff Team Maintenance**
- Ability to work independently as well as a team member or the staff.
- Encourage staff team decision-making and provide support, direction and leadership as a team member.
- Identify training, development needs, opportunities for self-professional development and/or required skill sets development.
- Ensure practices peers, students and volunteers are and use ORA operating policies and principles.
- Ensure orientation and appropriate training of new staff, students and volunteers.
- Assist in facilitating discussion and resolution of problems, issues, concerns within staff team.
**4) Administration**:
- Ensure that program reports are prepared for the Executive Director and/or Program Manager, partners and funding agencies as required.
- Ensure program attendance and statistics recording is completed and submitted for all services and activities.
- Ensure all requisitions, receipts and other paperwork are prepared and submitted according to ORA procedures.
- Maintain an up-to-date statistics and other related client based information.
- Other duties as assigned.
**5) Community Outreach**
- Seek out and develop new community partnerships, as well as maintain exiting ones.
- Coordinate in conjunction with the ORA staff team the implementation of an outreach plan to community members and local agencies.
- Communicate regularly with clients and develop appropriate forums for input into planning and outcome evaluation.
- Exchange information and resources with staff team, community partners and other community organizations as required.
- Promote ORA and its program.
**6) Agency Wide Activities**
- Promote involvement of youth in ORA activities and in the decision-making structure of the organization.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Post Secondary Education in the human services field (Social Worker Degree, Social Service Worker Degree, Child and Youth Work Degree) or equivalent work experience within a
