**We are currently seeking a full-time **Pharmacy Assistant** to work at our Mississauga location - 2785 Skymark Ave.**

**HOURS OF WORK**:
Rotating shifts during the work week (8hr shifts: Starting at 8am/10am or 1pm)
Rotating Weekend shifts (12hour shifts on Saturday & Sunday once every month and a half - with 3 days off in lieu)

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for all administrative duties related to the scheduling and dispensing of medications. This role requires communication with doctors, nurses and homecare and patients to ensure adequate quantities of medication are dispensed at the times necessary for continued patient care. The Pharmacy Assistant coordinates relevant information with the customer service, shipping, warehouse and finance departments regarding medication dispensing and appropriate billing accuracy.
- Responsible for the completion of Simplicity system billing for TPN.
- Responsible for dispensing all non-compounded medications
- Responsible for calling patients to schedule medication delivery times.
- Responsible for making all calls to doctors to acquire reorders on medications (sterile compounded and non-compounded).
- Responsible logging into the pharmacy phone queue and answering pharmacy telephone calls. The Pharmacy Assistant deals with calls within their scope of knowledge and transfers inquiries outside of their scope to the pharmacists.
- Responsible for receiving and signing out narcotic drugs with the pharmacists.
- Schedules production for all sterile compounded medication
- Responsible for ensuring all valid documentation for billing requirements are received - Ontario Drug Benefit cards, Limited Use codes, or SAP as required.
- Responsible for coordinating payment options for medications not covered by Ontario drug benefit.
- Responsible for programming CADD pumps.
- Ensure orders are prioritized throughout the day, and monitors EDI and Fax for the receipt of priority orders as required.
- Assists pharmacists and other pharmacy staff in identifying orders that pose “geographic challenges” to delivery.
- Monitors relevant screens in Monarch to confirm the status of progress of orders in the pharmacy of department.
- Investigates and intervenes in situations that may lead to potential late deliveries.
- Liaise with operations (i.e. warehouse and shipping) to expedite high priority deliveries.
- Responsible for scanning and filing prescriptions and worksheets
- Perform ODB drug billings and reconciliations to ensure proper payment is obtained for medication orders in a timely fashion
- Print and balance accepted claims reports from Monarch and Simplicity on a daily basis
- Perform re-submission of online rejected claims throughout the day
- Contact the LHIN for missing drug cards and extending expired drug cards
- Participates in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Relevant pharmacy experience and/or Pharmacy Assistant Certificate
- Pharmacy Technician certification from OCP an asset
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to collaborate with all levels both inside and outside the organization
- Strong computer skills in MS Office
- Proven ability to adhere to standards & procedures and maintain confidentiality
- Self-motivated and able to work with mínimal supervision
