**Job Synopsis**
The MCCS Thrift Shops provide quality used clothing, furniture and appliances at reasonable prices to a growing market. They generate a significant amount of revenue for MCC’s relief and development projects. The Delivery Truck Driver & Warehouse Assistant is available on an ongoing basis for driving the delivery truck for pickups, deliveries and general warehouse tasks at the Thrift Shop.
This is a 6-month Term position at 1.0 FTE (Full Time Equivalency) (40 hours/week) ending no later than July 5, 2025.
**Assignment Narrative**:
The MCCS Thrift Shop movement was started over 40 years ago in Saskatchewan. MCCS Thrift Shops seek to be a friendly,** **caring presence in the community, showing value and respect** **to all. Practicing and promoting faithful stewardship and care for God’s creation and raising funds for MCC are also key components to the mission statement of the Thrift Shops.
The Delivery Truck Driver & Warehouse Assistant is accountable to the Village Green Thrift Shop Manager and beyond that to the Management Team. This position requires a self-starter who is able to make decisions while being flexible and adaptable. Must be able to work with a team of volunteers.

**Qualifications**
- Experience in Shipping & Receiving, or Warehouse management an asset.
- Experience in moving furniture an asset.
- People skills - must be able to deal with the public especially in receiving donations.
- Self-motivated and willing to work both as part of a team and independently in an active retail environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
- Physical stamina and ability to life heavy items - up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to exert 11 to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- Requires about 5 or more hours of intermittent standing or walking in a standard workday
- Ability to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor level shelves and able to reach upper shelves with use of a stool or a ladder when necessary
- Driver’s license & abstract required.
- Police check required upon hire.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers and donors.
- Drive company cube van, practicing safe driving and respect for fellow commuters.
- Perform furniture pickups and deliveries efficiently and with respect for donor home/business.
- Answer donor questions at point of contact, assess furniture for value and inform donor of decisions regarding donatable items.
- Thank donors; make decisions on what donations will be accepted and recommend other places for donations as needed.
- Be the point of contact for incoming donations at the Shop.
- Refinish and repair furniture as needed.
- Serve customers on the sales floor.
- Clear donations from receiving room back door into the workroom.
- Exercise a compassionate spirit with volunteers, donors and customers on issues which arise as people interact within the store.
- Contribute to the shaping of a positive workplace culture based on Christian beliefs and values.
- Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use his/her personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others.
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ's unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, volunteers, and program participants.
- Answer inquiries about MCC from constituency and general public; communicate MCC's values, articulating the importance of MCC's criteria for workers, all of whom serve as representatives of the Thrift Shops which support MCC.
- Other duties as assigned.
Note: Physical labour is involved in this position, requiring the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

**Location Description**
Saskatchewan has approximately 1 million people, 35% living in rural areas. The majority are 2nd-to-5th generation Canadians of European descent; 15% are of First Nations origin, 5% Metis. About 700 people arrive in the province each year as refugees.
The MCCS constituency includes 96 churches, most belonging to Mennonite Church Saskatchewan and the SK Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Rosthern Junior College, a Mennonite high school is also a part of the constituency.
