Reporting to the Administrator, the Culinary Services Manager position is a critical role with overall accountability for the management and leadership of all operational activities within the culinary department.
**As part of our team, your role as a Culinary Services Manager contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways**:
- Plans, coordinates, directs and monitors the effectiveness of all operational activities within the culinary department, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home’s strategic plan, mission and values.
- Oversees recruitment, employee and labour relations, payroll and benefits, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions within the culinary department.
- Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the culinary department.
- Responds promptly to address dietary concerns of residents and family members, mediates appropriate responses to those concerns and implements action plans.
- Manages and monitors the culinary budget, takes appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the culinary budget.
- Creates menus, monitoring daily food preparation and reviewing of menus to ensure individual dietary needs of residents are met.Provides coverage in the capacity of a Cook, as required.
- Maintains an organized system of records management for the culinary department.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Graduate of an accredited Food Service Supervision/Nutrition Management Program.
- Must be an active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or a Registered Dietician.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a managerial or supervisor capacity in a healthcare setting, preferably long-term care.
- Sound knowledge of therapeutic diets, current nutritional standards relating to the geriatric population and the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act 2021, Ontario Regulations 246/10.
- Excellent leadership, oral and written communication skills and strong relationship building abilities are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computerized documentation systems.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
- Have a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
