We are looking for an experienced and skilled Fibre Optic Splicer. The Fibre Optic Splicer will need to be involved in all aspects of ISP/ISW and OSP projects and be willing to work in various environments ranging from Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs) to manholes and construction zones.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Install/Pull-In various types of fibre optic cabling in both ISP and OSP environments which may or may not include conduit, cable tray, open air plenum or underground duct systems
- Prep various types of dielectric and non-dielectric fibre optic cabling (wet and dry) into various FOSC’s and or patch panel/splice cabinet product lines
- Build CommScope & AFL branded FOSCs
- Splice tight buffer and loose tube fibres in both single fibre and ribbon configurations
- Read/Analyze construction blue prints, design packages and splicing designation sheets
- Operate test equipment and analyze test results from OTDRs and Power Meters
- Troubleshoot and repair issues
- Complete as-built/red-line and test reports
- Promote and adhere to a safe work environment.
- Maintain company equipment and the vehicle in compliance with company policies.
- Maintain personal tool list

**Experience Requirements**:

- _**Minimum of 5 years of fibre optic splicing and testing experience on Telus feeder and distribution networks**_
- Formal technical training
- Experienced in OSP and ISP construction situations

**Qualifications & abilities**:

- Honest

- Self starter with the ability to take direction and learn new skills
- Physically fit with the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Physically able to perform job duties in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail
- Maintain a safe and harassment free work environment
- Maintain detailed site records
- Ability to comply with specified policies and procedures for both company and customer
- Ability to work at heights
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Ability to work in Vancouver, lower mainland and Victoria for day jobs and over night
- Must have valid drivers license (Drivers Abstract Required) and clean security check
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, evenings and emergency call-outs
- Ability to work with and manage contractors and company team members

Negotiable based on experience and skill level

Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 60 per week

Additional pay:

**Experience**:

- OSP Fibre Splicing: 5 years (required)
- Telus OSP splicing: 5 years (required)

**Language**:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Alberta or British Columbia Class 5 with a clean abstract (required)

**Location**:

- Vancouver, BC (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 100% (required)

Work Location: On the road
