Instrumentation Apprentice

The Instrumentation Apprentice is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of the HVAC, Building Automation System and other measurement and control systems within West Edmonton Mall.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Consulting manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition and other variables in manufacturing and processing.
- Inspecting and testing operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments.
- Assisting with the repairing and adjusting system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts.
- Calibrating components and instruments according to manufacturers' specifications.
- Troubleshooting and calibrating pneumatic VAV systems
- Assisting with performing scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports.
- Assisting with installing control and measurement instruments on existing and new plant equipment and processes.
- Consulting and assisting with other trades within West Edmonton Mall.
- Other responsibilities and duties as required to operate and maintain a shopping center.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two (2) years-experience in an Instrumentation Technician or Assistant role.
- Must provide proof of Apprenticeship.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills plus; the ability to work efficiently, either independently or with other mall personnel/trades; comprises strong attention to detail, great problem-solving, decision making and trouble shooting skills as well as strong Mechanical aptitude and computer skills.
- HVAC and hydronic heating experience is considered an asset.
- Physically fit, able to walk long distances, work from heights, work in small spaces and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Terms of Employment:
- This is a full-time position that is required Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
