must also be available for some evenings and weekends;

**Position Summary**:
The Animal Welfare Coordinator assists with the researching, developing, and execution of public
education content related to animal welfare issues. This position is tasked with assisting the
Director of Animal Advocacy, Law & Government Relations in researching and preparing content in
the form of social media posts, blogs, videos, op-eds, newsletter articles, website content,
organizational policies and more. Additionally, the Animal Welfare Coordinator will be responsible
for assisting with the planning and delivery of ongoing public education campaigns, recurring
presentations and animal welfare public events.
Reporting to the Director of Animal Advocacy, Law & Government Relations, the Animal Welfare
Coordinator is expected to pursue the established responsibilities while also working
collaboratively with the Education Department, Communications Department, and other
department heads and staff as needed.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Research current welfare issues as they pertain to animals in Canada.
- Assist in the development and delivery of animal welfare related messaging to supporters
through a variety of media outlets.
- Assist in the scheduling and planning of public education campaigns, recurring
presentations, and animal welfare public events.
- Prepare content for the quarterly advocacy newsletter.
- Proactively scan for actions/news/events/opportunities which may require for the WHS to
produce statements, speak publicly on the issues, and/or post on web and social media.
- Deliver consistent messaging to the public that accurately reflects the organization’s
mandate and mission.
- Other duties as assigned
**Education, Training & Knowledge**:
- Education _
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Evening and weekend availability to host volunteer meetings and assist with public events
as needed.
- Short notice availability for virtual or in-person meetings
- Background in animal science, animal health technology, biology, and asset.
- Experience _
- Have previous experience working with volunteers.
- Experience working with non-profit.
- Have familiarity with key animal welfare issues in Canada**
- Skills _
- Strong understanding of animal welfare practices and current welfare issues
- Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Canva
- Works effectively both independently and collaboratively with a team
