**The Opportunity**:
The Parks Operations Crew Leader (Horticulture) will maintain public green spaces, outdoor recreational facilities, and ensure that a diverse parks system is upheld to the highest possible standard. This position will oversee a team of 4-8 seasonal parks staff during the summer months and will be responsible for snow removal, ice maintenance, outdoor maintenance of open spaces in the winter.

Responsibilities include:

- Plan and organize the maintenance of flower displays throughout the city
- Plan and organize shrub and perennial bed revitalization projects
- Act as a resource to colleagues on horticultural matters
- Winter duties consist of snow removal and ice maintenance, and other parks operational related activities
- Work in collaboration as part of a team to ensure that the delivery of seasonal projects/programs are performed in the most efficient, cost-effective manner
- Manage and resolve unexpected factors and conditions such as equipment breakdown, adverse weather conditions, work schedules and staffing shortages
- Address and follow-up with inquiries and concerns from residents
- Able to backfill unexpected gaps when required to maintain operational efficiencies
- Duties and responsibilities outlined above are representative, but not all-inclusive

**You Bring**:

- High School Diploma or GED
- Journeyperson Landscape Horticulturist is preferred
- Other related qualifications (i.e., Arborist, Pesticide applicators license) are an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience within a municipal setting with two (2) years of horticultural experience primarily focusing on flower and shrub maintenance
- Commitment to time-management as demonstrated by past punctuality and attendance records
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills as demonstrated by past performance
- Proficient in working with computer software programs such as Windows 10, Microsoft office, Outlook, and Cityworks
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy when working with other team members/coordinators and establish respectful working relationships with all stakeholders
- Mechanical aptitude
- Leads by example

**Additional Information**:
This full time position (40 hours per week) includes a comprehensive benefits and pension package.

Work is done primarily outside under all weather conditions.
