**AVP, Projects, Reinsurance Operations**: **Location** Toronto, Canada This is an exciting opportunity to truly be on the leading edge of data and process transformation within Munich Re. As the Assistant Vice President, Projects of Reinsurance Operations, you will drive the automation, digitalization and modernization of Munich Re's end-to-end operational infrastructure, building a culture poised for future innovation. You will have a unique combination of skills grounded in reinsurance expertise and complimented with a high degree of technology fluency and leadership abilities. You will have a demonstrated ability to develop a vision, manage the execution of that vision, and deliver top-tier results. Reporting into the Vice-President, Reinsurance Operations, you will have 2-3 direct reports at the Director level. Your job - Provide leadership and technical direction for the Reinsurance Operations team for North America Life. - Develop pragmatic data transformation solutions for the automation and digitalization of Munich Re's end-to-end operational infrastructure. - Be an expert on large volume and complex data processing initiatives including triage, management and robust analysis. - Responsible for the technical support and training as it relates to the operational infrastructure. - Accountable to stakeholders to ensure the operational systems are running effectively to deliver data. Additionally, working with IT to escalate and resolve system issues promptly. **System Management** - Manage a team of technical experts responsible for the development and maintenance of the operational systems related to data management, and the intake and processing of Inforce, Billing, Underwriting and Claims files across all lines of business for both Canada and US life entities. - Maintain appropriate governance, security, and control over the operational technical environment. - Provide technical training and support to the department and stakeholders. - Ensure regular internal data reviews are well established to assist in the identification and implementation of required operational improvements and influence the adoption of best practices. - Develop relationships with all internal stakeholders and gain an in-depth understanding of business requirements, and how the data is being used downstream. - Manage relationships with internal technology partners and represent Reinsurance Operations on IT lead initiatives. **Continuous Process Improvement (CPI)** - Foster a management approach that encourages and rewards Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) to ensure that the technical landscape is improved and optimized resulting in efficient and effective processes and balanced staffing levels. - Implement enhancements to the operational systems and support tools to optimize the interaction and exchange of information and data between stakeholders, and allow for increased efficiencies. - Support other stakeholders members in meeting team objectives, mentoring and training (new) team members as assigned. - Provide formal and informal feedback to the business partners. **People Management** - Hire and develops a high performance team that is highly engaged and recognized as experts both internally throughout the global Munich Re organization. - Ensure all employees are engaging in meaningful work with an understanding of how their individual priorities contribute to those of the greater department and corporate objectives. - Foster a culture focused on collaboration, open feedback, coaching, and career development. **Profile**: - 10+ years related operations and (re)insurance experience with an in-depth understanding of the North American (re)insurance market. - Demonstrated project organization and management skills. - Strong leadership skills with experience creating, developing and maintaining a strong team environment. - Communicating complex concepts across all levels of the organization, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders and peers. - Ability and desire to take on both a strategic and "hands-on" role. - Focus on client service and partnership. - Actuarial, LOMA or other insurance designations are nice to have. - Knowledge of relevant privacy laws, regulations and standards.
