The **Civil / Structural Engineer in Training** is an excellent opportunity to get into the specialized world of energy transmission. Based in our Vancouver office you will build your career within our industry leading T&D Lines team. This position could be based in our offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton, Calgary or Regina.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Under the supervision of a professional engineer, perform the structural design of overhead transmission lines (route selection, structures, foundations, hardware assemblies) and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kV
- Develop safe engineering solutions through design, problem analysis, and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects.
- Assist project/operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and schedule targets by proposing plan changes, recommending contractor payments, preparing progress reports, and coordinating work schedules
- Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies, analysis, exercising judgment in information selection, and recommending safe engineering designs
- Contribute to CIMA+'s engineering practices by conducting studies, developing technical standards, exercising judgment in information evaluation, recommending designs, and providing guidance to other engineers
- Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients, establishing design criteria, approving technical documentation, and assessing/reporting progress against standards and objectives for safe, quality, budget-compliant, and timely project completion
- Perform design tasks under the direct supervision of a professional engineer.
- Prepare project documentation like reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis, and test plans per CIMA+’s practices
- Develop design work packages with scope, duration, and effort estimates, and manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost for existing and new facilities
- Offer technical assistance, construction support, and field reviews as required

**Qualifications**
- University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
- Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in BC/ Canada, or eligible for registration in BC as an EIT
- Proficient in design/analysis software and CAD systems, along with familiarity of drawing standards
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication abilities in English - written and verbal (French is an asset)
- Experience in design tasks including scope, schedule and cost control
