- As a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Journeyman 2 (Satellite), you will plan, schedule and complete mechanical repairs on heavy vehicles, equipment and attachments that are leased to internal customers, ensuring that customer’s needs are met and costs and downtime are minimized. HET Journeyman 2s work in one of three satellite locations. Primary duties include:
- Coordinate and assign work for the Journeyman 1 technicians.
Provide accurate repair times on units for the customers.
Perform planned maintenance and repair work on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
Assist with training and mentoring Journeyman 1's, servicemen, and apprentices.
Liaise with Foremen, Fleet Management and Customer Service contacts on preventative maintenance issues and/or unit problem-related issues and unit performance.
Process work orders in the Fleet Services Maintenance Management System (M5).
Identify components and unit warranty items.
Perform quality control checks on units.
Order parts and materials to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
Coordinate any health, safety or environmental issues on behalf of the Foreman.
Ensure that fixed times and fixed prices associated with any planned maintenance work, estimates, and/or repair work are adhered to.
- **Qualifications**

- A High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) is required.
- A Heavy Equipment Technician certificate or equivalent Interprovincial Red Seal (as recognized by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board) and at least 4 years of experience including 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
- Truck & Transport and Off Road certifications are required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- You will be required to have a standard set of mechanic hand tools.
- Experience using the M5 system will be an asset.
- The ability to provide clear and concise work order job notes and reports of completed work is required.
- Success in this position requires the ability to direct technicians in performing complicated troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.

**Working Conditions**:Work in a shop around noise, chemicals and vehicle fumes and with moving parts and tools.

**Pre-employment Requirements**Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
- **Pre-employment Drug Test**: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
