**Hourly Rate**: $20.00 per hour
**Duration**: 8 weeks, 35 hours per week
**Reporting to**: Food Services Supervisor
**Location**: Red Deer, AB
**Number of Positions to Fill**: 1 position

Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Counter Attendant, as part of a team, provides support to the operation of the kitchen and food/beverage counter at The Mustard Seed in Red Deer, by assisting with sorting and organizing food donations, food preparation and cleaning activities. Maintaining Occupational Health & Safety Standards is also a key part of this role as well as working alongside volunteers.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Experience working in a kitchen environment is considered an asset
- Food safety certification is considered a strong asset
- Good organizational skills
- High level of confidentiality, especially pertaining to guest information
- Ability to recognize and maintain appropriate boundaries with coworkers, volunteers, and guests
- Must be able to handle a knife and have basic kitchen skills (operating oven, dishwasher, other appliances)
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills; ability to think “on-your-feet”
- Customer service experience
- Desire to serve in a Christian ministry

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This is a fast-paced active position requiring moderate physical effort: ability to lift 30-50 lbs., standing for duration of shift, bending, pushing, or pulling carts
- Position requires moderate mental and emotional effort
- Position involves working closely with volunteers and staff
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures/work environment is required

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees to be in agreement and sign our statement of faith.
- Employment Security Check is required.
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

**ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CANADA SUMMER JOBS**
- Be between 18 and 30 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Not a member of the Immediate Family of the Employer or a member of the Immediate Family of an officer or director of the Employer
- International students are not eligible participants
