**Position Status**:Permanent employee or ongoing contract.

**Qualifications**:A Registered Social Worker, A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Mental Heath Nurse or an Expressive Art Therapist. Master’s Degree an asset.

**Reporting**:The Child & Youth Grief Counsellor will report to the CRHS Lead Clinical Counsellor, who will also provide clinical supervision.

**Position Overview**:

- Play-based, child and youth-focused counselling with clients ages 4 - 18 years old who are experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one by illness or sudden death, including suicide, overdose, homicide and accidents.
- Work alongside parents and families individually and in a group setting to provide counselling, support, education and strategies to support their children in addition to the whole family unit.
- Practice in compliance with all ethical guidelines and standards as per BCACC standards.
- Teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, and effective communication with all other counsellors at CRHS, as well as administrative and leadership staff.

**Education**:

- A Registered Social Worker, A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Mental Health Nurse or an Expressive Arts Therapist with a Master’s Degree from a recognized educational institution as per professional association standards (ie. British Columbia College of Social Workers, BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, etc.)
- Minimum three years experience in Grief Counselling with children, youth and families

**Skills**:

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of counselling interventions and clinical practice with children, youth and families
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent time management and organizational skills as pertains to scheduling and documentation
- Cultural competence and work with diverse populations is an asset

**Requirements**:

- Availability to work daytime, evening and some weekend hours (dependent on client needs)
- Clear vulnerable sector police check
- Familiarity with virtual counselling techniques
- Current registration with a professional association/accrediting body
