**Your Team**:
Join Flair’s Finance team, where strategic leadership and regulatory compliance drive financial excellence. The Manager, Tax and Compliance is a key leadership role within the Finance team, reporting to the Director, Tax & Treasury. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Company’s tax function, including compliance, planning, and reporting across Canadian and international jurisdictions where the Airline operates.

The Manager will oversee tax filings, maintain relationships with tax authorities, and ensure adherence to all applicable tax regulations. This role also involves managing audits, assessing tax risks and opportunities, and collaborating across departments to support business initiatives.

Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, strong technical tax expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience in the Airline industry and with indirect taxes is a strong asset.

This role is based on-site at our Calgary, AB (YYC) or Edmonton, AB (YEG)**office.

**A Day in the Life**:

- Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns, indirect taxes, and aviation-related fees.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting, reconciliations, and compliance processes.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Canadian and international tax regulations, including those specific to the Airline industry.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, evaluating their impact and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Act as the primary liaison with federal, provincial, and international tax authorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Commercial, IT, and Finance) to ensure tax requirements are correctly reflected in business systems and processes.
- Manage tax audits from planning through resolution, including responding to inquiries and defending positions taken.
- Develop, implement, and maintain tax-related policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation; present strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior tax staff and contribute to their professional development.
- Represent the Company in industry forums, committees, or working groups related to taxation, regulation, and compliance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

**What You Bring to the Role**:

- ** Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation required.
- ** Experience**:

- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in tax, including corporate tax compliance and reporting.
- Experience managing tax audits and working with federal, provincial, and international tax authorities.
- Prior leadership or managerial experience in a corporate or public accounting environment, including team management.
- Experience with indirect taxes and tax regulations applicable to the Airline industry is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with aviation fees, international jurisdictions, and cross-border tax issues is highly preferred.
- ** Skills and Abilities**:

- Proven experience managing tax audits and liaising effectively with tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with keen attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite and airline-specific systems (e.g., reservation and flight systems) is an asset.
- Expertise in leveraging Excel, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, and other systems to streamline processes, enhance reporting, and drive operational efficiency.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
- Highly organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- ** Requirements**:

- Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
