**A Day in the Life **

The Associate Director, Experiential Education (EE) is central to advancing Brock University’s leadership across the country as a leader in experiential education while providing strategic oversight and direction of University-wide, complex, multi-disciplinary teams who look to cultivate existing and potential experiential education opportunities and partnerships.

This role will ensure the embedding of best practices into programming, delivering over twenty differing experiential education types across the institution. The Associate Director, Experiential Education is also responsible for creating and nurturing relationships with CCEE members and other critical internal and external stakeholders to the University, including community organizations and other academic institutions.

**As the Associate Director, Experiential Education, you will**

  • Develop and uphold strategy to engage and retain local, national and international organizations for the purpose of developing experiential learning partnerships;
  • Maintain relationships within the University for strategic and operational purposes;
  • Build and manage community engagement strategy as it pertains to experiential education to expand our community outreach and partnerships;
  • Ensure strategic alignment with Faculties and departments within Brock to help promote and enhance the reputation of their experiential education programs;
  • Identify, assess, and interpret research needs and evaluation outcomes in collaboration with community partners;
  • Oversee and ensure collaboration with cross-functional multi-disciplinary experiential education staff and Faculty throughout the University to collect information related to experiential and work-integrated learning;
  • Monitor business practices provincially, nationally and internationally to ensure that the team members have the appropriate practices and processes in place;
  • Lead the identification, development and implementation of projects to improve service and program quality, relationships, stakeholder satisfaction, staff capability and performance;
  • Ensure equity, diversity and inclusion best practices are embedded at the foundational level of all experiential education services, including co-curricular programming;
  • Work with internal units across the institution to establish and maintain processes and governance of EE-related operations;
  • Ensure student-related Work Intergraded Learning (WIL) agreements setting out regulations, policies, and expectations are being adhered to;
  • Ensure individual academic departments and Faculties are supported for their proposals to the Senate at both the Undergraduate and the Graduate level;
  • Develop and oversee metrics and data collection processes to ensure that Brock meets SMA requirements, strategic priorities and academic plans;
  • Manage Experiential Education’s budget and contribute to the department’s annual budget process;
  • Lead, manage, provide oversight, and support a multi-disciplined team employee lifecycle.

**What you need to Succeed**

  • Graduate Degree (or relevant experience) and a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the field of experiential education, adult education with program and policy development, preferably in an academic sector;
  • A minimum of five (5) years previous experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role, including strategic planning functions;
  • Valid G class driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract
  • Strong understanding of experiential education theories and the strategic role career and experiential education has in a university environment;
  • Ability to communicate with executive level representatives of existing or potential internal and external stakeholder organizations;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and the ability to keep up-to-date with best practices in curriculum development, adult education, and distance education;
  • Advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas applicable to experiential learning;
  • Competency with budgeting, data, strategic, and financial planning;
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, database software, and social media;
  • Strong client service orientation, with the proven ability to build long-term relationships;
  • Advanced communications skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) and listening skills;
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate individuals, working with diverse groups to strategize career objectives;
  • Strategic planning skills and the ability to conceptualization and propose new initiatives for improving EE opportunities and partnerships;
  • Strong critical thinking ability for problem-solving;
  • Ability to develop, track and interpret key metrics and analytics;
  • Commitment to teamwork and integrity.

**Salary and Benefit Information**
