Acorn is also actively involved in scientific research with top healthcare and education institutions in North America, including the National Research Council, the University of Toronto, Mount Sinai Hospital, and the University of Calgary, to further the potential of cells in the follicle across many areas of general health.

**The Role**

The Cell Culture Technician will play a critical role as the primary point of contact for the culturing, plating, distribution, maintenance, and banking of cell culture lines. You will work alongside our Research Specialist in the autologous manufacturing of our topical serum product. This includes but is not limited to, sample management, primary cell culture, and sample collection using aseptic techniques. This product will be applied on patients in single-site trials across Canada and the United States.

You will also participate in the commercial processing of human biological samples in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) upon the arrival of samples to our centralized lab. These samples are a lifelong resource for our clients, and diligent processing is paramount to ensure their ideal preservation.

**Location: Toronto / Los Angeles / Remote work arrangements possible**

**What You’ll Do**

Manufacturing of topical product:

- Culture cells and collect media required for experiments and production.
- Coordinate logístical aspects of production.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to production processes.

Cryopreservation of Human Biological Samples
- Collect, analyze and cryopreserve human biological samples in ISO-7 and ISO-5 cleanrooms in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Handle the transfer of samples into liquid nitrogen tanks.
- Transport biological samples to and from the laboratory, when required.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, sanitation and cleaning of the cleanrooms.
- Maintain proper documentation, inclusive of batch records for all sample processing.
- Actively promote safety and awareness in the laboratory.
- Aid in the quality control process through the creation of SOPs, documentation and records.

**What You’ll Need To Succeed**
- Completed or working towards completing Bsc. or Msc. in the field of biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cells and systems biology or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and good aseptic technique
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems with a high level of independence.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively present information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to leading with humility, curiosity, and transparency, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig into the work.
