**LOCATION: 230 Hanlon Creek Blvd, Guelph, ON (Hybrid - minimum 3 days in office, more as needed)**
**SUMMARY**:
The Analyst, Corporate Development and M&A, reporting into the Vice President, Corporate Development and M&A, is responsible for supporting the company’s strategy by researching, identifying, and evaluating acquisition opportunities, strategic initiatives, and supporting all strategic project execution.
**HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Work on all aspects of Corporate Development projects and transactions spanning strategic fit, valuation, due diligence, regulatory compliance, financial modelling, purchase agreements/negotiation, governance approvals, and closing checklist management.
- Prepare and manage internal and external parties on any aspect of a transaction. This may include working with accountants, lawyers, and internal integration teams.
- Drive cross-functional issues to resolution.
- Perform financial modelling including but not limited to:
- Financial projections for the potential acquisitions or a specific initiative, including impact to Gateway.
- Valuation analysis including multiples and comparable analysis, as well as determining working capital targets.
- Solely monitor the due diligence and data-gathering process for acquisitions.
- Oversee the diligence data room and coordinate requests across internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare internal presentations and documents for proposed transactions to communicate information and ask for governance approvals.
- Prepare other pieces of analysis on an ad-hoc basis.
- Support the investment tracking process across the acquisition and investment portfolio.
- Design and implement processes and tools to make the team more efficient.
- Lead other initiatives that support and advance the objectives of the team (e.g., tracking the deal pipeline).
- Support the Corporate Development Manager and VP on strategic planning and growth initiatives.
**WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED**:
**Education, Experience, and Training**
- Degree in Business, Finance, accounting, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum one year of work experience with a private equity firm, management consulting / advisory firm, or in a finance/strategic planning role preferred.
**Skills & Abilities**
- Knowledge of finance/accounting and ability to read and be critical of financial statements.
- Strong level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel (financial modelling experience required), Word, PowerPoint, and various research databases.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an agile environment with cross-functional Team Members to meet deadlines.
- Must be detail-oriented, have strategic thinking skills, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasionally work overtime and weekends to meet deadlines
