**Contractor Division Service Desk**
**Job Summary**: The contractor division service desk associate is responsible for providing prompt courteous and efficient service to customers and contractors, advising them on appropriate merchandise and related items. Their duties include being familiar with pricing, local building codes, preparing quotations, as well as a variety of other related duties. The contractor division service desk associate must perform all assigned tasks with speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of service to customers and to achieve sales profitability.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure customers and contractors are greeted within 30 seconds of entering the store or department.
- Communicate product knowledge to the customer as appropriate.
- Assist customers with finding all items needed to complete their project.
- Assist customers with carrying out large or heavy items.
- Determine customers needs by asking open-ended questions.
- Be familiar with maintaining up-to-date pricing.
- Know local building codes.
- Know prices, practices, and policies of the company’s competitors.
- Keep updated with practical knowledge of building materials and lumber products, including their uses, advantages and disadvantages.
- Be familiar with deck and garage design packages.
- Keep retail floor neat, clean and orderly.
- Bring real or anticipated operating problems promptly to the attention of management.
- Work on special project(s) assigned by manager, general manager and/or owner(s).
- Suggest new products, merchandise lines, services and/or cost containment measures to manager.
- Restock merchandise displays in area.
- Recommend items and services in the department to be advertised and promoted.
- Keep losses through error and/or theft to a minimum.
- Resolve customer complaints in a way consistent with company policy.
- Process special orders for non-stock items or out-of-stock items.

- Set a good example by always following company policies and procedures,
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behaviour to general manager to have the situation corrected.
- Attend store meetings and training sessions, etc. as required.
- Maintain safety training certifications annually or as advised.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
