**About the Position**:
The Buyer is a member of the Materials Department reporting to the Sr. Materials Manager. The Buyer works with various departments to assist them in acquiring the materials, equipment and services they require at the best overall terms and in accordance with purchasing policies.

**Specific Responsibilities, But Not Limited To**:

- Responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction activities at the location using procurement tools and technology
- Support buy/supply/pay practices and the administrative process to drive process optimization and automation
- Assist with forecasting raw material, components and supplies consumption
- Place purchase orders for direct materials and administer indirect purchases
- Maintain minimum inventory to support the production schedule
- Work with planners or operations staff to develop and execute JIT stocking programs with suppliers
- Purchase the highest quality goods at the lowest price in the correct quantities
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals and review requisitions for non-stock goods and services
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, distribution, capabilities and the supplier’s reputation and history
- Analyze price proposals and other data to determine/negotiate reasonable pricing
- Monitor shipments to ensure goods come in on time and follow up in the event of delays
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Maintain records of items purchased, cost, delivery, product performance and inventories

Additional duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five years of procurement experience in a manufacturing/production environment

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Technical purchaser for direct materials and outside processes
- Experience using High Yield negotiation methodologies
- Knowledge of production planning, inventory management, JIT concepts and MRP
- Hands on experience working with a business forecast, production planning or purchasing
- Familiar with a wide variety of manufacturing processes
- Team player, results oriented with strong attention to detail
- Computer proficiency

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
