Casual Assessors Needed

Family Reception Centre, 300 Rochester Street

The OCDSB is looking to establish a list of qualified Casuals available on an as-needed basis to replace absent Assessors or during peak period throughout the school year.

Reporting to the Principal of the Family Reception Centre, Assessors work collaboratively with other Assessors to perform and coordinate student intake procedures, including:
receiving new students to the Board and Canada for the purpose of assessing their English, first language, and mathematics proficiency;
making recommendations on their placement and programming;
liaising with schools and other departments;
participating with in-service activities;
performing in-school assessments on occasion.

**Desired Qualifications**:
University degree in Linguistics, Education, or a related discipline;
Experience working in an educational environment;
Experience working with ESL assessment tools/instruments;
Knowledge of Ontario education system and student assessment process for English language and math proficiency;
Familiarity with Board Policies and Procedures particularly those pertaining to admission, assessment and placement of students;
Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity.

Fluency in another language (other than English) to support the needs of our clients.
