**Role Overview**
As a member of the leadership team and reporting directly to the General Manager, the General Services Manager (GSM) supports all other departments within the company so they can focus on their primary responsibilities. As an expert organizer, the GSM leads the team that enables each department to complete their work in an efficient, timely and undistracted manner and in doing so, each department produces exceptional quality.
This internal services function includes activities such as shipping, receiving, inventory, purchasing, security, safety, maintenance, office support services and various operations support services that ensure continuity within the organization and provide a seamless conduit for information, goods and services to our customers. Every department’s efficiency and success relies on consistently accurate, thorough and seamless support from the General Services department.
The GSM has a sharp business mind, an unwavering attention to detail and proven success at providing exceptional support services to maximize productivity. A high Emotional Quotient is essential to success in the position. They will have demonstrated skills and successes in some or all of the following areas: maintenance processes, inventory management, purchasing, shipping and logistics, IT support, customer service, designing business processes, security systems and other office support services.
**Role Responsibility**
- Provide the critical support to departments to enable those in the department to focus on their primary responsibilities.
- Ensure a safe work environment and the security of data, equipment, inventory, and buildings
- Develop and document all key processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity
- Manage and lead the General Services team, which includes reports in office admin, shipping, maintenance, operations support and contract IT support.
- Optimize the inventory control system. Perform tasks and manage delegates to ensure precise Inventory Control.
- Perform strategic sourcing of manufacturing inputs. Improve Purchasing processes to control costs and improve customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain purchasing reference material.
- Ensure scheduled, preventative and required facilities maintenance (equipment and buildings) is performed to high standards.
- Ensure all operational support activities remain on time and within a defined budget
- Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure smooth operations of the organization
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
- Take on special projects
- Participate as a member of the Leadership team
- Participate as a lead member of the JOHSC.
- Education in operations management, business administration, purchasing/ inventory control or related fields and/or comparable work experience or a willingness to pursue applied studies in these areas.
- Proven experience in an area related to the job responsibilities.
- Experience managing others and developing successful teams.
- Strong tracking, reporting and oversight skills
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining of control of results
- Analytical inclination with ability to problem solve
- Ability to develop and maintain strong vendor relations and maintain inventory control systems
- Strong understanding of IT systems and hardware
- Capacity to take on special projects
- Exceptional communication skills
